Dietary supplementation for Celiacs
Many Celiacs go without crucial nutrients whilst avoiding gluten-containing foods. This could actually be doing more harm than good. Below is a copy of a recent newsletter to healthcare practitioners about how to use Prime Directive to overcome this issue.

We get asked a lot of questions about the suitability of using Prime Directive with Celiacs Here are some common questions and answers that may help.
Can I give PD to a Celiac?
Yes – PD is a pre-digested wholefood that presents little intolerance reaction even from Celiacs. Prime Directive has been fermented with the Flora Ferm process; this may explain why hundreds of gluten intolerant sufferers are having positive results with this food product.
What does pre-digested mean?
That the hard-to-digest proteins like gluten are already broken down by fermenting the grain, this way they become more easily digestible and their nutrients more readily available.
Why do you use wholefoods?
This is just as nature intended. All foods are better in their complex natural state than broken down and processed. Intolerances are largely due to extracting parts of foods from their original whole state, which the body often does not recognise and finds harder to digest.
Isn’t it easier to avoid gluten foods?
No - For thousands of years nearly every traditional culture has prepared their whole grains by either soaking or fermenting them prior to cooking (pre-digested).
Modern Science has come to understand the wisdom of these traditions by discovering that all grains and legumes contain substances called phytates, which this process breaks down. Phytic acid is a chemical found in the bran portion of the grains and the skins of legumes. It binds with calcium (and iron, magnesium, phosphates and zinc) in the intestinal tract, thereby preventing absorption of these minerals.
Also - Insufficient digestion of the proteins contained in grains and legumes has been linked to problems such as allergies, CELIAC DISEASE, mental illness, indigestion, and yeast overgrowth (Candida albicans). Fermentation assists in breaking down these proteins.
